Avoid triggers: Common triggers for acid reflux include fatty foods, spicy foods, citrus, tomato-based products, chocolate, alcohol, and caffeine. Avoiding these foods or eating smaller portions of them can help reduce acid reflux symptoms.

Eat smaller, frequent meals: Instead of three large meals, eat several smaller meals throughout the day to help keep the acid in your stomach at a manageable level.

Avoid lying down after eating: Wait at least 3 hours after eating before lying down or going to bed.

Raise the head of your bed: Elevating the head of your bed by 6-8 inches can help prevent acid reflux symptoms at night.

Wear loose clothing: Tight clothing can put pressure on the abdomen and cause acid to reflux into the esophagus.

Avoid mint and peppermint: Peppermint and mint can relax the lower esophageal sphincter and worsen acid reflux symptoms.

Stay upright after eating: Stand up or sit upright for at least 30 minutes after eating to help digestion and reduce acid reflux symptoms.

Avoid carbonated drinks: Carbonated drinks can cause bloating and increase pressure in the stomach, worsening acid reflux symptoms.

Reduce stress: Stress can increase the production of stomach acid, so it is important to manage stress through exercise, meditation, or other stress-management techniques.

Consult a doctor: If lifestyle changes and over-the-counter antacids are not enough to relieve acidity, consult a doctor to discuss other options such as prescription medication.
